Short loans also known as overnight loans are items which can be borrowed for 1 day only Monday - Thursday, or til the following Monday if borrowed on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Short loans will automatically issue for 3 days to students with a Disability Support Plan.

Short loans include books and DVDs.They have been classed as short loan as they are popular items in very high demand and cannot be renewed.

Only current staff and students from the University may borrow short loan items.

Short loan items are labelled with a red or orange sticker with the words 1 DAY LOAN  / OVERNIGHT or WEEKEND LOAN. They have to be returned to the Library by midnight on the day of return. If you return a short loan item later than this there is an initial fine of £1 for the first day returned late, then £1 per day for each subsequent day.

If you have any queries or problems with short loans please contact the Helpdesk.
