The video and DVD films formerly held in the Modern Languages Resource Centre (Cultures, Languages & Area Studies) are now located on the ground floor in the Abercromby wing, adjacent to the Sydney Jones Library's Help Desk.

The material is made up of films and documentaries and can be borrowed by all students and staff.

The collection is shelved by language, then alphabetically by title. The loan period for staff is 7 days, with unlimited renewals. For students, the loan period is the same as the main DVD collection, 1 day (short loan), or for the weekend if borrowed on Friday or Saturday, with no renewals.

If you wish to find a specific film, enter the title of a film in the Library Catalogue search box.

To find all films in this collection, at the Library catalogue:

  • Click on the Keyword drop-down next to the search box

  • Choose Class Number (Local collections):

  • In the search box enter vid.

  • For a specific language add the first three letters of the language as your search term, e.g. vid.fre.

  • Alternatively to find films in a specific language search by Subject and in the search box enter the search term Films followed by the language, e.g. Films French:
