Graduates of the University of Liverpool are welcome to join the Library as Alumni members even if you attended an associated institution such as Liverpool Hope University or the University of Chester (before they awarded their own degrees). If in doubt, we can check with the University's Alumni office. There is no charge, and you are entitled to borrow up to ten books for a period of two weeks.

Access to a range of electronic resources is available through a guest login on our walk-in access PCs, if you are able to visit the library in person.

If you are not able to visit in person the following eJournal collections, which are limited by licencing agreements, are available to alumni:

  • Emerald - the 'EMeJ 111' collection of eJournals (which is smaller than the 'EmEJ Plus' collection offered to current staff and students.)
  • JSTOR - the same collections that the library provides for current staff and students: Arts & Sciences I, II, III, IV and VII, Life Sciences, Ireland, and 19th Century British Pamphlets
  • Project Muse - the same 'Standard' collection that the library provides to current staff and students (but note that some journals are only included in the 'Premium' collection and are therefore not available to alumni or current staff and students.)

See the Alumni online journals page for information about these collections. To access, registration is required. Alumni membership does not entitle you to access computing facilities directly, but provides access to a range of electronic resources as described above.

To register for alumni membership come to the library bringing proof of ID and address. The University acknowledges all of the following groups as Alumni and offer them all the full range of benefits:

University of Liverpool Graduates (UG, PG & online)

International Summer School completers

Honorary graduates

Former members of UoL staff

Alumni are entitled to use the library's Get it for Me service, through which they can request items not available in the library. To use this service please register for an account by emailing us at Once you have an account, use the separate Get It For Me Alumni login.

See the University's Alumni web pages for information about all benefits available to University of Liverpool Alumni.
