Prayer spaces exist in both the Sydney Jones and Harold Cohen Libraries and elsewhere on campus.

There is a Muslim Prayer Room located in the basement of the Abercromby Wing of the Sydney Jones Library.

Opening hours for the Prayer Room correspond with the Library.

Accessing the Prayer Room

This facility is open to all University of Liverpool staff, students and other registered members of the Library.  Valid ID is required to enter.  If a Library customer has a block on their record then they will be prevented from entering the Library and will not be permitted to use the Prayer Room, or any other Library services.

The cloakroom and washroom facilities have been adapted for wheelchair users.

Facilities within the Prayer Room

There are separate male and female prayer spaces and separate washing facilities for men and women. The prayer room also has a separate cloakroom facility for men and women and customers will be able to leave their shoes there.

A curtain separates the male and female prayer spaces and this can be opened to create more space, if there are a large number of men wanting to pray the Friday Duhur prayers. If the curtain is open the Prayer Room will hold around 140-50 people. If the curtain is closed, each side will take around 60-70 people.

For more information see the University's Muslim Prayer Room Usage Guidelines. For any concerns or complaints relating to the use of this room please contact the Prayer Room Management Group by email or call 0151 795 4146.

A Multifaith Prayer and Meditation space is located on the Upper Ground Floor of the Harold Cohen Library.  Please ask at the Help Desk for use of/access to this space.
