The Library is taking part in a pilot project which now allows some BoB content to be made available to overseas students. This is primarily usable via planned playlists.

To ensure content is viewable offshore, items should be added to a playlist by a UK-based lecturer, or other module/programme developer, ensuring the playlist is marked as 'Globally enabled' and visibility is set to 'Everyone' e.g.:

Example of a BoB playlist showing the Globally Enabled and Everyone button checked

The resulting playlist can be found under the 'My Bob' tab (top menu), then right-click the list to copy the link address, or open the playlist to see the URL in your Web browser:

Offshore users can be provided the resulting playlist as a link in their reading list or other location (e.g. VLE module).

Please note, not all content can be added to global playlists and users must adhere to the terms and conditions of the pilot for global playlist creation.

An offshore user may also search BoB for content which has been made available globally. To do so:

  1. log into BoB.
  2. click the ‘Search’ icon.
  3. change the radio button option from 'Programmes' to 'Public Playlists'
  4. click 'Search Options'
  5. In the ‘Global’ option, choose ‘Global playlists only’ i.e.

The results screen will show all global content available in BoB (including lists from University of Liverpool and other institutions):

Also available are already curated global playlists organised by subject area.

Full details of the pilot are available on the BoB offshore support page. For further assistance, please contact your Liaison Librarian or for online programmes please contact the E-Learning Librarian.
