Article Galaxy Scholar (AGS) is a fast and convenient service that provides immediate access to journal articles from specific journals not covered by the library's subscriptions or holdings. By delivering articles in real time via email, typically within one to two minutes, AGS provides a rapid solution when access to an article is urgent. This service supplements current journal subscriptions and complements existing library services like Get It For Me, which has a standard 12-hour turnaround for non-urgent requests.
All registered University of Liverpool academic staff with a valid MWS account can use AGS at no charge. However, while it is free for you, this service is more costly for the Library than traditional interlibrary loan. AGS costs £30 per article request, while traditional interlibrary loan has no additional charges to the Library. If your request is not urgent, we encourage you to use our Get It For Me service, which has an established turnaround of 12 hours.
Use AGS when you need immediate access to a journal article, such as for urgent research or grant application, or other time-sensitive academic work.
For non-urgent requests, the Get It For Me service can provide access within 12 hours and is more cost-effective for the Library. This service is also suitable for requesting other types of materials, like book chapters or conference proceedings.
