The Maker Space is located on the ground floor of the Sydney Jones Library and is available to all University staff and students. Within this space, you can experiment with a variety of exciting new technologies, whether you want to create something for your university studies or just want to enhance your digital skills.
Technologies available in the Maker Space:
- 3D printing
- Laser cutting
- Vinyl cutting
- Virtual Reality.
The space is open 10am-3pm Monday to Thursday during term time.
Free Maker Space workshops take place throughout term time which introduce students to using the basics of these technologies. One to one appointments are also available for bespoke creations and projects. You may need to bring your own materials depending on the size of your project, but the technician will advise when you come for an appointment.
You can also submit files for 3D printing by booking a 15 minute 3D printing slot. The technician will check your file and if suitable for printing, they will advise on any charges, which will be payable via our online store. Each student can print one item up to the value of £5.00 for free each semester.
