Libkey Nomad is a browser extension that enables one-click access to subscribed and open access journal articles and eBooks from thousands of academic websites.

Download the LibKey Nomad plugin – this installs the extension locally in your browser (available for Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, Brave and Vivaldi).

You will be asked to ‘Select Organization’ as part of the download - select ‘University of Liverpool’.

LibKey Nomad does not store any login credentials or require an account to be created.

LibKey Nomad is compatible with desktop/laptop browsers only and is not compatible with mobile- or tablet-based browsers.

LibKey Nomad will automatically activate when you search from any one the thousands of scholarly websites currently supported.  You do not need to be ‘logged in’ to the website itself.

When a link is offered, a large LibKey button will appear on the bottom left of the screen…

… and a smaller LibKey button will appear near any article it detects on the page and has a link for…

Click the link to access the full text; you will need to log in with your MWS username and password if the content is from a subscription that the Library pays for.

If the full text is available, but not as a PDF, a link with an alternative label will be provided (e.g. “article link”) – for a list of possible labels see the FAQs.

When LibKey Nomad cannot immediately retrieve the full text, it will show this icon instead:

Click this to view the article in Library Search, where available request options will be provided (e.g. Get It For Me).
