To visit Special Collections & Archives (SC&A) you must make an appointment and confirm the material you wish to consult. Appointments in the SC&A Reading Room are available from Tuesday to Friday and must be requested by 4pm at least 3 working days in advance of the intended visit.

The Reading Room is open from 10am to 4pm, with last admittance at 3:30pm. More information on visiting, as well as the link to request an appointment, can be found on the Special Collections and Archives: Visiting & Using page.

Special Collections & Archives (SC&A) are located on the Grove Wing Ground Floor in the Sydney Jones Library.

Special Collections and Archives is open to all bona-fide researchers by prior appointment.

SC&A offers an in-house reprographics service (subject to a fee and available for up to 100 scans per person).

To enquire about ordering copies of SC&A material, please contact us by emailing scastaff@liverpool.ac.uk and provide the reference number(s) and any other applicable information (title, date, vol.).

Copying services are available subject to copyright regulations, but please note that the physical condition and size of an item may prohibit any copying.

All scanning and photography orders for copies of SC&A materials are carried out by SC&A staff, with the exception of self-service digital photography during a visit in person (permission required).

All orders will be processed promptly, but readers should expect to wait up to 20 working days for orders to be completed on receipt of payment.

Visitors may take photographs of SC&A material for private research purposes. Images should be taken without the flash enabled and without the use of a tripod; handheld scanners are also prohibited.

On arrival visitors should request permission from SC&A staff to take photographs. Visitors are also required to complete the Self Service Photography Application Form.

The Archive of the University of Liverpool, including administrative records, personal papers of former staff and students, photographs and objects relating to the history and function of the University of Liverpool, is held in Special Collections & Archives (SC&A). The University Archive pages contains more details.
