Unlike public libraries, the Library does not have a dedicated fiction section, with the exception of our Science Fiction Collection. However, we do hold a large number of fiction titles, which tend to be those used in English literature (or other language) courses and are generally considered to be literary works.

Works of fiction/literature are held in the Sydney Jones Library. If there are particular books or authors you are interested in, it is certainly worth checking Library Search to see what is available.

In addition, both the Sydney Jones and Harold Cohen Libraries have regular themed displays of books celebrating Black History month, LGBT month, International Women's Day and various award shortlists such as the Booker and Costa prizes. You can browse the latest display shelved on the ground floor of each Library. Many of our staff are also avid readers so please feel free to ask at the Help Desk if you would like some reading recommendations.

Access to English Literature resources, including, primary sources and literary criticism can also be obtained via the databases on our English Library Guide.

For more information or help with using these, contact the Liaison Librarian for English.
