Study rooms, tables and pods are available to book via the Library booking system in both the Sydney Jones and Harold Cohen Libraries.
Many of the study rooms and tables have large screens to enable collaborative working. Connection packs are available to borrow from the Library help desks on the ground floor to enable you to connect your laptop or other suitable device to these screens.
Bookings can only be made up to 48 hours in advance. Each user is allowed up to 4 hours per day for room or table bookings and 2 hours per day for Library Pods.
No bookings are available during bank holidays unless the Library is staffed (during the summer vacation the rooms can be booked weekdays only between 9am-5pm).
Only students with a Student Support Information Sheet (SSIS) are able to make a booking for an accessibility room. If you do not have a SSIS then you will be unable to place a booking for these rooms.
In times of high demand for space within the Library, the 502 building has some group study rooms that range between 3 and 6 people in capacity. Bookings are to be made in person at 502's reception desk. Other alternate study spaces are also available around campus.
To book a study space, pod or room, use the book a study space link, which you can also find on the Library home page.
- Use the drop down arrows to select the Library, Zone, Type of space and Capacity you would like
- Tick the relevant boxes if you require an accessible space and/or power.
- Click Show Availability.
- Click on the button for information regarding the the facilities available
- Green squares indicate availability, red are already booked
- Click on 'Go To Date' to select the date that you require and then click on a green square next to the relevant room or space to select the time that you require. Remember: you can only book a space up to 2 days in advance.
- Once you have clicked on a green square, the room will automatically allocate a 1 hour slot.
- If you require longer than this, please use the drop down arrow to select the hours that you need.
- Click Submit Times and remember to read the Terms and Conditions.
- Click Continue, then 'Submit my Booking'.
- You will receive a confirmation email with details of your booking.
Your confirmation email has an attachment (.ics file)
We recommend you add your booking to your calendar using the .ics file attachment. You just need to double-click it and follow the prompts. This will add and store your booking details (including Space name, Check-in code, Cancellation link) in your calendar, which can be very handy should you forget your booking or lose the booking confirmation email.
- Please remember to check in upon arrival, and note that failure to do so within half an hour will result in an automatic cancellation.
- You can check in via a link in the email or via a QR code on the desk in the room or space.
If you have forgotten which study room or space you have reserved, check the confirmation email sent to you when you booked the room. If you added the booking to your calendar (recommended above) then the entry in your calendar will have all of your booking details
If you don't have the email and did not add the booking to your calendar, it's unfortunately not possible to check for yourself online. Simply ask a member of staff or use an option in the Contact Us box to get in touch, and a member of staff will check for you.
If you find you no longer need the booking, please cancel it so it can be used by others. To do this, use the link provided in the email you receive confirming your room booking. If you need any help with this please speak to us at a Library help desk or use one of the options in the Contact Us box on this page.
Study spaces are not available for Alumni to book. Room or space bookings require University of Liverpool usernames and passwords, which are issued to current staff and students only.
Though you would not be able to book rooms or spaces in the Library, there may be other options available around the University. We would recommend you get in touch with University Alumni Relations for further options.
