There are two main ways on your Reading List that your lecturers can let you know which chapters to read for your modules.

They can do this by either using:

  • Chapter Bookmarks, or
  • Student Notes

In Chapter Bookmarks

Your lecturer may add a chapter to your reading list as a ‘bookmark’ item.

The bookmark will have a ‘Chapter’ item type and will often include both the chapter and book title.

It will include list links to the chapter and/or full book in whichever format it is available.

To quickly find the Chapter Bookmarks on your reading list:

  • Select ‘Type’ on your reading list navigation bar
  • Select ‘Chapter’ from the drop-down menu

Through Student Notes

Your lecturer may add a Student Note to a reading list ‘bookmark’ to indicate which chapter they would like you to read.

The bookmark will use a ‘Book’ item type and will often only include the book title.

You will see the student note detailed below the item’s title, next to a graduate hat icon.

The bookmark will include list links to the full book in whichever format it is available. Lecturers may also add a link to a pdf of the chapter to make it easier for you to read it online.

To find Student Notes detailing which chapters you should read:

  • Select ‘Type’ on your reading list navigation bar
  • Select ‘Book’ from the drop-down menu

You can then easily look at which Books have Student Notes about chapters on them.

You can also add Personal Notes to your reading list items, to help you navigate to any bookmarks you’d like to find quickly using the related Filter.
