For details of available maps and atlases and their locations see Library Search.

Many atlases and maps formerly located in the old Abercromby Wing Basement Store 1 of the Sydney Jones Library, and the Closed Store of the Harold Cohen Library, are now available on request from the off-site Brunswick Library Store (BLS).

In addition there are also atlases and maps available in the Sydney Jones Library in the following locations:

  • Oversize Collection (Grove Wing 1st Floor)
  • Archaeology Collection (Abercromby Wing Basement Store)
  • Special Collections and Archives (SC&A) (Grove Wing Ground Floor)
  • open shelves (Grove Wing Ground and 1st Floors)
  • basement stores (stores 2 and 3).

A small number of maps and atlases are available in the Institute of Irish Studies.

Geological, medical and veterinary maps and atlases are also available at both the Harold Cohen and Leahurst Campus libraries.

Elsewhere on-campus paper/printed maps are available from the Geographical Information Centre, Map Room, 6th Floor Roxby Building. There is a large reference collection of approximately 100,000 maps. The Map Curator, Tinho da Cruz, is on hand to help with enquiries and the use of the collections and facilities: dacruz@liverpool.ac.uk / 0151 794 2844.

See our History Library Guide or your local/county record office. In addition the National Archives have produced a research guide.

Maps are available online via Digimap.
