Print books, CDs and DVDs are located in the Sydney Jones Library. Music scores and a book collection from the Music Department can be requested via the Library Search. In addition there are many online music resources available.

For more details of music resources see the Music Library Guide or contact the Liaison Librarian for Music.

Music CDs are kept in 4 cabinets, which are located next to the DVD collection on the ground floor of the Abercromby Wing of the Sydney Jones Library. Titles of individual CDs can be searched for via the Library Search.

Music scores can be requested via our Click and Collect Service. Music books are available to browse on the second floor of the Grove Wing in the Sydney Jones Library and usually have a classification number beginning with ML. Music books can also be requested via Click and Collect or borrowed straight from the shelf.

The Sydney Jones Library has holdings of Melody Maker on microfilm from 1926 - 1981. To use please ask at the Help Desk. Articles from the paper from 1973-1986 and 1993-2000, together with those from New Musical Express from 1970-1989, are also available via Rock's Backpages

Rock's Backpages is the biggest online database of rock music writing in the world. Sourced from the pages of the music and mainstream press, it is a massive library of articles (reviews, interviews, features and more) from the early 1960s up to the present day.

Further resources can be found on Library Search which searches the majority of the Library’s print and eResources.
