Yes, postgraduate research students (Ph.D.) can generally have the expiry date on their library record extended up until the date of their viva.
We can extend the expiry date by up to three months on request with no additional evidence required at this point. If necessary we will renew any items.
If you require an extension for longer than three months, you will need to provide additional evidence in the form of a letter from the Graduate School Office or your department/school confirming the required date for the extension.
If you require continued access to the Researcher Reading Room after your card has expired, you will need to pay a £10 deposit and use a visitor Researcher Reading Room access card which you can ask for at the Sydney Jones Library help desk.
