If there is a title that you wanted to add to you reading list but it isn’t already in library stock, you don’t need to request it first via GIFM and wait for it to arrive in the library.
Check Library Search remembering to expand your search to include items not in stock.
If the title is found, bookmark it and add to your list; by bookmarking from Library Search a link to library availability is included in the list.
Always check Library Search when adding a book to your list, if you bookmark from either of these, a link to library availability is included in the list.
If you don’t find the book in Library Search, you can bookmark it from an external source such as Amazon. With the individual book on screen, click Add to my Bookmarks in your browser toolbar.
Then choose Create or Create & Add to List:
You can use your reading list as a communication channel with the library, to ask for new books to be purchased.
If you add a book that the library doesn’t have, it’s very important to select 'Review & Publish' when you publish your list. This notifies library staff that the list has changed. They will review the list and order the new book(s).
You will receive an email once your list has been reviewed by library staff. The email updates you on the outcomes of the review, i.e. which books have been ordered and which items are available online. You may be asked to make more decisions, e.g. choosing a chapter for digitisation if no eBook version is available.
If you have any questions or problems, please contact your Liaison Librarian.
