Reading Lists @ Liverpool is the quickest way to communicate directly with the Library, to ensure that they:
- Know what resources you need for your module and teaching sessions, and
- Order your resources in the right amount and format for you.
You can let the Library know whenever you would like a new title, a new edition, or a different format of a title, by simply adding a ‘Library Note’ to the item’s bookmark on your reading list and sending your list for review.
If your title is not for a reading list, you can still request it through the ‘Get It For Me’ service.
How to request a New Title for your reading list
- Ensure you have installed the Bookmarking extension and have the editing rights to update your list
- Add a bookmark for your title from Library Search using the ‘Create & Add to list’ button
OR
- Add a bookmark for a title not available in the library (not in stock) using the ‘Create & Add to list’ button
- In the ‘Create & Add’ form for your bookmark, go to the ‘Note for Library’ box
- Add your ‘Library Note’ with the details of the new title you are requesting
- Select ‘Okay’ to add your bookmark to your reading list
- Find and go to your reading list on Reading Lists @ Liverpool, and
- Send your list for review
Our dedicated Reading List Support team will process your request for a new title during your Reading List Review.

What if a book on my reading list has a ‘Library Note’ saying ‘eTextbook’?
You may notice a ‘Library Note’ on your reading list books marking them as an ‘eTextbook’ for a specific academic year. These titles have been acquired for you under a special 'eTextbook' license.
If any of your reading list books are an 'eTextbook', we will negotiate with suppliers for the renewal and new editions of these books on an annual basis.
We have a dedicated process for the 'eTextbooks' and, depending on their usage, may contact module leaders to check whether you would like these book licenses to be renewed.
We will always look to purchase the latest edition of a book, where available, as part of our eTextbook Renewal Process.
*Remember
If you make any changes to your reading list, publish and send it for Review to ensure the Library knows what you need for your module and teaching sessions.
You can find more information on how to get the most from your lists in our Reading Lists guide.
If you have any technical or reading list resource queries, please contact the Reading List Support team.
If you would like further guidance on the eTextbook process, please contact your Liaison Librarian.
